Roddy’ MacDonald’ s Gaelic songs on the CD Sùil Air Ais are from Lewis oral tradition. The majority of them recorded for the first time. Included are bàrds, composers like Donald Macleod A ‘Chang of Ranish and others who spoke the language of Eden from birth.
Roddy has worked for the Stornoway Trust Woodlands for over 30 years and features in the TV programmes about the grounds. Roddy was one of the founders of the Sawmill Band in the 1980s.
Roddy is also an exponent of the traditional Hebridean Melodeon and his CD Fasan a dh fhalbh is one of the few records of the traditional West Coast style.
