Description
Donald Angus Matheson the traditional Gaelic singer from Barvas, Isle of Lewis is known locally as Dolly Angus. Dolly Angus regularly sings for island visitors at the Geàrannan blackhouse village, entertaining with Gaelic song and Gaelic Psalm singing.
Dolly Angus has won the Traditional Medal at the Royal National Mod. Whilst highlighting the work of lesser known composers of Gaelic verse, by sharing aspects of the islands bardic output at concerts and events throughout Scotland. Composers of verse from the Westside in these two Cds include Malcolm Maclennan of Arnol and Norman Macleod of Shader.
Dolly Angus ’s distinctive voice is often heard on national radio sharing the traditional style of singing for which the Isle of Lewis is renown.
